Padres

Evan's Spring T-Ball team is the Padres! He loves going to practice and having "real games" (even if most are at 8am on Saturdays - ugh). He's all decked out this season, in brand new "spike shoes" and real ball player pants and socks... he looks like a little pro! Mike's helping to coach the team, and Drew and I are unofficial helpers too. :)

Evan definitely has some skills in baseball. He can throw really far and has very good accuracy, and loves to turn on the speed. His goal is to hit the ball out into the grass before the end of the season, and he's getting close! We are lucky to have a great team this year, with both new and old friends as teammates. I had a fancy zoom lens this weekend, so took advantage and took way too many pictures at the game. These kids are just too adorable!

Hot air balloons welcome us to the field bright and early.

Drew helps carry gear to the game. Every bat counts...

Evan stretches and checks out the clean chalk lines.

Honorary bat boy Drew take a couple swings during
warm ups. He wants to play so badly!

Our Padres line up this morning, minus two.

Some last minute words of encouragement from
Coach Mike and a yell to let the other team know
we're the Padres!
Us parents think it's a hoot our team is sponsored
by Attitudes Salon. These kids have attitude, alright!

Drew cheers on the team.

Evan scoops up a grounder for a great play.

Time to bat! I love seeing the two of these guys playing together.

Evan stops at third...

then sprints for home!

Great score! Those red spike shoes can really fly.

Carrington scores another run for the Padres.

And Bryce brings it home.

 Fielding against the Pirates

Evan loves playing first base. "Throw it here, guys!"

 Smack!

A couple more quick runs score for our team.

Tony and Carrington hang out on deck in the dugout,
simultaneously cheering on their teammates and trying
to climb the fence without parents noticing...

Great game, everyone!

Post-game pep talk and one last cheer.
Then it's time for snack... one of the best parts of T-ball!

Rocket Man

Evan and Drew got a cardboard rocket ship from Grandma & Grandpa C for Christmas, and we finally got around to setting it up. Putting it together was no easy task, but the end result is pretty cool! For now they're having a blast with the novelty of a rocket ship in the bedroom, but Evan's itching to start coloring and decorating it. He set it up to nap in today, with some special "guys" and a comfy blanket and pillows.

Happy Spring!

Everything's in bloom, and the weather's gorgeous in Charlottesville! I hope you're having a great day wherever you are! Here's one of our backyard trees in all its glory this morning.

Spring School Picture Day

School pictures mean haircuts... and a hectic morning at home and school, but they're soo worth it! Look at these cuties!

Waiting our turn

Together

Such a cheese ball!

Drew missed morning snack with his class while we waited for pictures, so Ms. Stephanie kindly let him sit with Evan and their older class for a snack. Drew behaved beautifully, and Evan couldn't have been more proud to have his brother with him. The other big kids thought it was pretty cool too!

Swim Graduation!

Evan had his last swim class of this session today, and he did amazingly. He's getting really good at coordinating hands and feet, and is pretty confident with his face in the water. He's working hard at relaxing his body and letting the water do some of the work while he speeds towards the wall. He scored high marks in nearly all requirements of the class! Hooray for our little Red Snapper!

Front Facing Boys

Now that he's nearly 2, Drew can finally have his carseat turned around front! He took his first ride facing forwards to Evan's swim lesson today, and hardly blinked the whole way. It's a whole new world when you get to see what's in front of you! He wanted to settle in and get comfy, so off go the shoes and socks. Unfortunately now that he's facing forwards, his things don't get trapped in the nice little pocket between him and the seat back like when he was facing backwards... now they end up on the floor, or occasionally in the front seat. Ouch. But he's definitely happy to be more big-kid now, and Evan loves that he and his brother can finally sit the same. It sure is strange turning around and seeing two big kids looking at me.

Spring Game 2013

We went to the football stadium today for UVA's Spring Game. We met up with several friends, and had a blast running around the field, testing our speed and agility in drills and races, trying on some of the player's jerseys, and wrestling around and rolling down the hill during the game.
