New Phone

Mike got a Blackberry. It's supposed to help him do work while he's on the go, but one of the best features so far is that Evan loves it!

Elephant

Evan's coming up on his 12 week birthday, and his developmental progress is evident. He's got a strong neck and back, kicks and swings his arms everywhere, and loves to watch and listen to his family. Toys are a lot more fun now that he can grab hold!

A busy boy

It's been a busy January. Mike's busy with basketball, Crystal's back at work, Ernie is trying to run off his energy in the cold weather, and Evan's growing, growing, growing. We've all contracted Evan's first daycare cold. Evan's sleeping on an inclined mattress to help him sleep more comfortably, and it's great... until about 3am when he gets squirly and starts inching his way around the crib in his sleep. We've found him in some unusual positions!

School continues to be fun for Evan. He eats like a champ, impressing the teachers with his appetite. His class is "studying" snow and the color white this week - he's getting quite the education through the songs they sing and books they read.

Christmas Cheer

After the gifts were opened, Evan took some time to don his alternate holiday personalities with the help of some new outfits.

New Year 2009

The Pariseau family rang in 2009 by... sleeping. Evan is still sleeping through the night (miraculously), so he went to bed at 8:30 and didn't notice the arrival of the New Year. The rest of us, Ernie included, tried to stay up and watch an aging Dick Clark in Times Square, but after a busy day playing with Evan, we all crashed. Maybe next year! We all then spent a lovely day in our jammies watching football. Evan's learning all about the teams and calls while hanging out with his dad, and loving every minute of it.

First Day of School

Evan began "school" today (daycare). Both Mike and I are still off work during the holidays, so we took Evan for a couple half-days so he and his teachers could meet each other, and we used the time to clean up some post-holiday tasks. It was hard giving our little man over to someone else, but we did admit that the time alone was quite a luxury.

The first days' report came back very positive. Evan did well at school, playing with the teachers, napping a little, and eating well. There are 8 kids in his classroom, varying from 8 weeks to 16 months. Evan's the littlest of three little-little guys in his class, so he'll have some good friends to grow up with. There is another classroom across the hall that has 8 kids in the same age group, and they all play together some times. Evan's teachers seem really nice and have been working with infants and toddlers for years, and they welcomed him into the class with open arms. His name was even posted on the wall already! The daily schedule includes play time, nap time, eating time, and outside time, so he's going to be a busy little boy. At the end of the third day, Evan rewarded Mike and I with a big smile as soon as he saw us, seeming to say, "I missed you mommy and daddy!"
