Shoes

After 10 months of going barefoot, shoes might take some getting used to! How do they work? Why are they heavy? What's this sharp stuff that holds the straps on? Can I chew on the straps? Hmm.

First Day of School

Today was the first day of Fall Semester at school. Evan wore new shoes and was all smiles to see his friends and teachers again. It's going to be a great year!

A Masterpiece

We painted today! Evan had the day off of school as the teachers prepare for tomorrow's first day of fall semester, so we painted apple picture for our teachers. It was messy, but fun! And the teachers loved their works of art!

Sunday Breakfast

Evan shared in a yummy Sunday morning breakfast treat: homemade waffles and strawberries.
Most of the waffles ended up in the chair or in Ernie's mouth, and there are strawberry stains in his pjs, but we loved every minute!

Daddy's Hat

Hats are fun. They can be worn backwards or frontwards, or even sideways. They are different colors and can have different teams or logos on them. Some people wear them to hide their head, or protect it from the sun, or show off their teams, or just to be fashionable. But most of all, hats are fun to pull on!

Reading

I can read! The magazines and newspapers are fun, but I'll read just about anything, including the postcards and junk mail daddy puts in the recycling bucket. Let me tell you a story, Ernie!

Badger

He's a little Badger! This jersey is a real jersey. All the girls at school are going to want to chase after the football player...

School Pride

Evan likes his school. There are nice teachers, and my classmates are fun to play with. There's even yummy food! We get to play outside every day, and have water play during the summer. It's a good time!

Ring that Bell!

Ernie has a magic bell on the door. When he rings it, the door opens and he gets to go play outside. I wonder what happens when I ring the magic bell? Even if the door doesn't open, the bell makes a great noise!

Turtle!

There's a turtle doorstop in the bathroom, and Evan discovered it today. It just may be his new best friend. It's heavy, but he managed to lift it and look at it's face - just like you would with a real turtle. Maybe a turtle will be his first pet?

Noodle Night

The whole family had noodles for dinner tonite. Evan wasn't too sure about plain noodles at first, but he's learned that they're really yummy. He loves to take some for lunch at school!

Little Drummer Boy

Old containers make great drums! Mommy, when can I use the DMB drumsticks to make real music?

Sitting in the Book

Evan isn't sure how to read yet. Maybe osmosis works - if you sit in the book will you absorb the words?

Hanging with the Hunts

Evan had his girlfriends over for dinner today! The Hunts came over, the little man couldn't get enough of all three. They played on the floor, read books, ran around outside, and ate a great dinner from the grill. It's so fun to play with such good friends!

County Fair

It's time for the Albemarle County Fair. We got to see sheep, llamas, steer, and a horse let me pet his nose. He was a really really big horse. We didn't go on any of the 'big kid' rides, but we ate gyros and barbeque, and watched a group of cloggers. Mommy tells tales of a huge County Fair with corn on the cob and tractor pulls and sewing competitions and Fair Queens, but this was much smaller - just like Evan.
